Dar-e-Aghae · Door of Awareness

Grief needs to be witnessed.
Pain needs to be seen.

And sometimes, healing begins when someone finally has the space to tell the story.

Are you carrying a worry that keeps returning, even when you try to manage it?

Is your child struggling academically or socially? Are you noticing difficulties with learning, attention, behaviour, friendships, emotions, or development?

Have you been through an experience that has left you struggling with grief, confidence, relationships, or how you see yourself?

Or do you simply feel that something in your life needs understanding, support, or change?

I’m Fehmida Rasool, a Clinical Psychologist. This is a space to understand what you’re going through and find the support that fits.

Some things are easier to carry when there is somewhere to put them down.

You don’t have to have the right words

You don’t have to carry it alone.

Maybe you’ve been wondering, “Why am I not feeling like myself?” You might recognise yourself in one of these:

You keep overthinking conversations, decisions, relationships, or what might go wrong. Even when things are quiet, your mind doesn’t feel quiet.

We can explore what is keeping your mind on alert and whether psychological therapy may help.

Lately, you’re feeling low, overwhelmed, exhausted, irritable, or disconnected — and even ordinary things seem harder than they used to.

This can include concerns such as changes in mood, anxiety, stress, functioning, confidence, emotional regulation, or general wellbeing.

Your child may be struggling with school, attention, friendships, emotions, behaviour, or confidence — and you’re not sure whether it’s something they will grow out of or whether they need support.

We can begin by understanding your child’s emotional, behavioural, learning, attention, or developmental concerns.

A loss, difficult experience, trauma, relationship, or life change may still be affecting the way you feel, think, relate to others, or see yourself.

Difficult experiences can affect how we feel, think, relate to others, and manage everyday life. Individual therapy can provide a space to understand what has happened and how it continues to affect you.

You keep having the same arguments, feeling misunderstood, withdrawing from each other, or struggling to communicate — and you’re not sure how to break the pattern.

Relationship difficulties can leave both people feeling hurt, confused, unheard, or stuck in repeating patterns. Couples therapy provides a structured space to understand these patterns, improve communication, and work towards healthier ways of relating.

Sometimes you don’t have a diagnosis or even a clear explanation. You simply know that you’re struggling and want to understand what is happening.

Sometimes assessment is the first step toward understanding what is happening and what kind of support would be most helpful.

You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. And you don’t need to find the perfect words.

We can begin with where you are.

Understand yourself better

Psychological Assessment

Sometimes the first step is understanding rather than treating. Assessment can help clarify what is happening and provide a clearer direction for support, intervention, education, or further referral.

CognitiveLearningAttention / ADHDEmotionalBehaviourDevelopment

Assessment may explore

  • Cognitive abilities and intellectual functioning
  • Learning difficulties
  • Attention and concentration
  • ADHD-related concerns
  • Emotional and psychological functioning
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Personality and patterns of functioning
  • Developmental concerns
  • Adaptive and everyday functioning
  • Anxiety, depression, and other psychological symptoms
  • Child and adolescent concerns
  • Questions about diagnosis or differential understanding

Assessment is tailored to the question being asked rather than using the same set of tests for everyone.

Find community · Learn together

Some things feel different when you don’t have to face them alone.

Dar-e-Aghae creates spaces for people to connect, learn, reflect, and receive support — through carefully designed support groups, workshops, and community learning opportunities.

Upcoming groups & workshops

New groups and workshops will be announced here. If there is a particular topic, concern, or community need you’d like us to explore, you can let us know.

Something is missing from this website

You won’t find their faces here.

No survivor. No child. No one who came to us for help. Not one face of anyone who has sat in a group, walked into a session, or come to a community event.

That is deliberate.

We are bound by more than good intentions

Psychological practice is held to professional ethical codes — among them those of the American Psychological Association and the British Psychological Society. Beneath their detail sits one principle: do no harm. Confidentiality, in these codes, is not only about what is said in a room. It reaches anything that could identify the person who said it. A photograph identifies.

Consent does not settle it

Someone who has come to us for help is not standing in a neutral place when they are asked. They may agree because they are grateful, because they do not want to disappoint, or because they are unwell and want to be agreeable. Consent given inside a relationship of dependence is not freely given in the way consent is meant to be. So we do not ask. The asking is itself a kind of pressure.

A child cannot consent to a lifetime

A parent may agree today. The child becomes an adult who never agreed, and who cannot take the photograph back. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child treats a child’s privacy as belonging to the child. We treat it the same way.

Once it is published, it cannot be withdrawn

A photograph on the internet is copied, cached, screenshotted and searched. A face on a mental-health website says something permanent about a person’s life — something they may not want said in five years, or to an employer, or to a family they have not told. Nothing we could gain from showing our work is worth that.

This applies even when we hold consent

Where a photograph exists, and where permission was given, we still do not publish it. Not on this website, and not on any social or digital platform. The rule does not bend for a good photograph or a good cause.

The one photograph on this site

There is a single photograph here, of a community awareness session at IBIT, University of the Punjab. Look at it: every person in that room is photographed from behind. The only face is Fehmida’s, and it is hers to give. That is the standard — if someone came to us for help, or came to learn from us, you will not see their face.

So we describe our work instead. The groups, the training, the sessions and the places are written on this site in plain words. If you are looking for proof of the work, read it — all of it is true, and none of it costs anyone their privacy.
